This week we farewell Cheryl after 17 years with Early Connections.
Cheryl started her career at the Port Macquarie Community Preschool and later found her calling working with children with disabilities. After a number of years at the preschool, she stepped into a position next door with Hastings Early Intervention Program.
It was a busy family time as Cheryl retrained whilst her daughter was studying year twelve!
Cheryl held management positions for ten years at the Hastings Early Intervention Program which is now a member of the Early Connections Alliance.
In 2016 Cheryl spent a year traveling around Australia in a caravan and rejoined the Early Intervention team as a Key Worker for another five years.
“I’ve loved meeting so many special families and children and working with such a wonderful team of professionals,” said Cheryl.
Cheryl brought experience and compassion to the organisation and a natural ability to make connections.
“The most rewarding things are helping parents and caregivers see that they are the most important teacher or therapist in their child’s life and watching them and their child grow in confidence.”
The team enjoyed cupcakes to celebrate Cheryl’s Birthday and final day with Early Connections. Gifts from the Management Committee and team were opened at a farewell afternoon tea.
Cheryl will be greatly missed by staff and families and we wish her all the best for her next chapter.
